Transform your life in 3 steps as an international tutor
I'd like to argue that running an international tutoring business can change your life in ways you might not have imagined.
Tutoring students from other countries is not only enriching, but you also get to choose the time of day you want to work.
Unfortunately, many tutors don't pursue this option because they don't know how to ge into the international market and they're not sure what overseas students might be looking for.
From my experience working with tutors, so many struggle to create a presence that will bring them international clients for the following reasons:
Reason #1 They don't know where the clients are
Reason #2 They don't know how to reach them
Reason #3 They don't know what to offer them
Reason #4 They don't know how to price themselves or sell their services confidently even when they have found them
But there is a way to find international clients and to position yourself as an expert.
Here's how, step by step:
Given that 80% of Chinese families use educational agents to help find a school and tutor for their child, you should go to them first.
Start by looking on sites like the Boarding School Association which lists accredited agents that you can reach out to.
Offering too many things or not making your offerings clear enough can lose business before you've started. Put together a service guide which outlines your services and be as specific as you can. Agents want to work with experts.
When you know what you want to offer and you know what you want to charge, be confident in sharing this.
Each of these steps will help you to provide agents (and therefore students) with services their clients need and will position you as an expert.
